Wishes aren’t my cup of tea.
I always bristle a bit when I hear folks say things that begin with, “I wish I could…. ”
So often the, I wish I could, is followed by a BIG but.  Big buts are usually self defeating excuses.

“I wish I could afford to go…  BUT”
Stop wishing and begin the creative process of HOW you are going to afford it.  Humans are very intelligent, adaptable beings who are capable of manifesting their desires if they truly want to make something happen.  There is a way, find it.

“I wish I were young enough to…  BUT”
There is no age limit on effort, passion and improvement.  Your age has nothing to do with you not following your desires and pursuing things you are interested in.  Are there different levels and abilities?  Absolutely.  Are you capable of finding a way to enjoy activities that truly intrigue you?  Yes.

“I wish I were in great shape…  BUT”
Do I really need to say anything about this?  You don’t really mean that or you’d pursue it and succeed.  Great shape means something different to every individual and body type.  Whatever your body type, however, just saying you wish without putting forth effort is an empty phrase that will not change the way you look or feel.  Your BUT  is not going to reshape your butt.

“I wish I could stop…  BUT”
You can stop.
STOP.
If you are challenged to stop on your own, find those who can provide you with tools and support to assist you in stopping.

“I wish I could leave this situation… BUT”
You can do whatever you choose in any area of your life.  Fear of change, fear of the unknown, FEAR is the only thing stopping you from leaving.  Leave the fear and the BUT  will become irrelevant

Next time you catch yourself wishing, I challenge you to take note, give it some thought, and change your approach.  I imagine you will find your reality shifting from a bunch of big buts into the realm of limitless possibilities.

You are capable of whatever you desire.

Wonderful and empowering insight Annetta! Now I WISH I could just… kidding. I’ll just have to stop “wishing” and start moving forward towards all the great things life has to offer!

    This was exactly ME.
But listening and reading your article made me realize that you are SOOO right.
A couple of years ago I said:
Annetta I wish I could come and visit you!
You told me: don’t wish, just come, you’re welcome.
The only thing I said was: oh Annetta I wish I could but I don’t have enough money for it. …..
Then don’t say you wish because if you really do then you’ll find a way.
Guess what? 6 months later my dream came through! I was on my way to Hawaii with my 2 kids to have a great holliday with my lovely friends. We had a terrific time! !!
I say I wish I could sometimes but the only thing I do is remembering Annettas voice: don’t wish just find the way! !!!

This blog is very confrontating and true. I’m often very scared about desicions in life, what path to take and how to keep myself financially healthy. Luckily i have a girlfriend now who is the opposite of me when it comes to safety in life and she will give me the “do what you want, we can do it and we will be happy in life” speech
